AdvocacyThere is strength in numbers. The Arc of McLennan County is affiliated with The Arc of Texas and The Arc of the United States, organizations that advocate for the rights of persons with intellectual disabilities and developmental disabilities to be included in their local communities.

Adult Self-Advocates The majority of children with intellectual disabilities grow to adulthood. These adults require support for daily living and often turn to The Arc for companionship, guidance, and encouragement. The Arc offers a monthly gathering for these adults who benefit from each other's company and learn to advocate for themselves in daily life. The Arc also offers adult classes that teach art forms, such as quilting, pottery, and photography.

Money Management Upon request, The Arc provides budget and money management services for adults with intellectual disabilities who live independently.

Social Development Everyone—including people with intellectual disabilities—needs social activities in his life. The Arc provides much needed group activities for young and old alike. There are dances, cookouts, and other special events to offer peer involvement, to teach social and daily living skills, and to have loads of fun along the way!
