Are you ready to make a advocate for yourself?

You have the right to speak up for yourself and you don't have to do it alone. At the Arc of McLennan County, we walk alongside you. Whether you want to find a job, choose where you live, go to school, or reach any goal that matters to you, we are here to help you make it happen. You deserve to belong fully in your community. We will stand up for your civil rights and human rights every step of the way.

This is your life. We are just here to help you live it.

What is Self-Advocacy?

Self Advocacy is:

  • A Civil Rights Movement

  • Speaking Up for Yourself

  • Making Your Own Choices

  • Something Everyone Can Do

  • Learning Where to Get Information

  • Asking for Help/Support When You Need It

  • Trying New Things

  • Knowing Your Strengths

Self-Advocacy is NOT:

  • A Program

  • Other People Making Decisions FOR You

  • Keeping Everything the Same

  • Putting Yourself Down

  • Being Embarrassed to Ask for Help

  • Avoiding Taking Risks

  • Staying Home
