Opportunity Center (ISS Program) Assistant

Location: Opportunity Center at The Arc

Hours: Flexible, Monday-Friday 10:00 AM-3:00 PM

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with vocational training and work-based learning projects

  • Support socialization activities, life skills development, and community outings

  • Help facilitate arts, music, and creative workshops

  • Shadow and document participant progress for program records

  • Provide one-on-one encouragement and engagement for participants.

​

Ideal for: Students in special education, psychology, social work, vocational training, or human services.

​

Heart of Texas Self Advocate Assistant

Location: The Arc and Community Meetings

Hours: Third Tuesday of each month, 6:00 PM + Additional hours as needed

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in organizing monthly advocacy meetings

  • Support members in public speaking and leadership training

  • Research and present on self-advocacy topics

  • Help coordinate community outreach events

  • Document key takeaways and create follow-up materials

Ideal for: Students in law, political science, public policy, or disability studies

​

Fundraising and Grant Writing Assistant

Location: Hybrid role, The Arc and remote

Hours: Flexible

​

Responsibilities:

  • Research grant opportunities and funding sources

  • Assist in drafting grant proposals and reports

  • Help plan and execute fundraising campaigns

  • Track donor contributions and maintain records

  • Support donor outreach and engagement strategies

​

Ideal for: Students in nonprofit management, business, communication studies, or writing

​

Marketing and Communications Assistant

Location: Hybrid role, The Arc and remote

Hours: Flexible

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage social media accounts and create engaging content

  • Draft newsletters, blog posts, and press releases

  • Design promotional materials and outreach campaigns

  • Capture and edit photos/videos for storytelling

  • Ensure brand consistency across all communication channels

Ideal for: Students in marketing, communication studies, journalism, or graphic design

​

Event Planning Assistant

Location: Hybrid role, The Arc and remote

Hours: Flexible

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and executing community events

  • Coordinate logistics including scheduling, volunteers, and vendors

  • Support day-of- event coordination and troubleshooting

  • Evaluate event success and document improvements
     

Ideal for: Students in event planning, marketing, communication studies, hospitality, or nonprofit management.

Volunteer Coordination Assistant

Location: The Arc of McLennan County

Hours: Flexible, Monday-Friday 8:30 AM-5:30 PM

 

Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, train, and support new volunteers

  • Organize volunteer orientations

  • Track volunteer engagement and hours

  • Plan volunteer appreciation events

  • Assign and manage volunteers for programs and events

  •  

Ideal for: Students in human resources, nonprofit management, communications, or public relations
